What is Citizens for Responsible Community Planning?

We are a group of concerned citizens in Kelowna who wish to see the paradise of Kelowna not spoiled by the ever present quest for the almighty dollar. We do not naturally oppose every development project being proposed in Kelowna, as some projects that are presented to council do fall within the statement of principles that we operate under. We have no specific special interest in any individual development proposals, however, we all have a genuine interest in seeing Kelowna maintain, or even increase its standard of living.

Where can I find more information?

There are various ways to get more information. We will try and provide an array of informational links on this website so you can make an informed decision on the key issues facing Kelowna.

Does CRCP have any model cities which have done an exemplary job of managing growth?

CRCP upholds Boulder, Colorado as an outstanding example of growth management having reducted the annual population growth rate to below 1%, instituted an ultimate population ceiling for the city, having implemented a 35' building height restriction, and requiring developers to allocate 20% of all residential units as affordable housing. There is also a page on our site which gives some direction as to how you may involve yourself, such as the contact information to City Councillors and contact information for the Corporate and Planning Services division with the City of Kelowna.

When are your meetings?

Meetings are generally once a month, however, meetings may become more frequent when major issues are at the discussion phase with Kelowna city council and/or during information campaigns undertaken by the CRCP.
